No, no, that's different! Sure, heroes work with the police and firefighters sometimes, but our work is supposed to be, like, fighting villains and helping with search and rescue. Haven't you ever heard of heroes before?
Not everyone is bad. There are a lot of people who are good, you know? Not just heroes, but regular people, too.
[ she doesn't like the implication that people as a whole are just... bad. it doesn't sit well. ]
Um... Techniques for fighting villains, strategies to get in and out of situations safely, how to safely rescue bystanders, ways to work together with other heroes... [ she shrugs. ] Normal hero stuff, I guess.
[ clem generally believes that people as a whole are bad. but what she really means, and can't quite articulate, is that bad people are a constant in every world. good people might not be.
well. in the end those might just be the same idea, anyway. ]
I don't really get what 'normal hero stuff' means. So what do villains do, then?
Break laws, mostly. Steal stuff, hurt people… kill them, sometimes. Sometimes their quirks are geared toward it, like it’s something destructive, or they can teleport, things like that.
[ it's. embarrassing. but she won't lie about it. ]
They have a construction business, but work's been dwindling for years, so it's hard for them to make ends meet. I wanted to help them, but my dad told me to follow my dreams instead, so... I decided to become a hero, so I could make enough money to let them live an easier life.

I've only been to one boarding school, and it's... Not exactly running anymore. Cool building, though.
[ but she gives Ochako a once-over... ]
Yours probably isn't a school for "troubled youth," right?

[ uh ]
It's just a regular hero school. We weren't even staying on school grounds until recently.

[ so hero schools are? normal? huh??? ]

[ what isn't normal about this ]

Like... Learning to be a firefighter or something?

... The villains part makes sense, though. [ man is the real monster etc etc ]

[ what a funny world clem lives in! ]
We have comic books too, but heroes are pretty real outside of them. Sometimes my class is even taught by the number one hero in Japan!
...Well, the former number one, I guess. He had to retire this year.

[ she's pretty sure. anyway. ]
... Huh. So what do you learn in hero school?

Well that's... Pretty cool, I guess. Wanting to go out and do justice or whatever.

Yeah, I guess so. It didn’t start out that way for me, but I’ll be glad to help people, if I can.
