It's basically a code name? Heroes and villains are both common in my world, so heroes need code names to protect the people close to them, you know? Like, if everyone knew exactly who the number one hero was in and out of costume, it'd be really easy to target their family or something.
But it's not set in stone or anything. Some heroes don't bother hiding their civilian identities. I think it just depends on how famous they are, or how powerful the villains holding a grudge against them are.
It's a pretty normal thing, yeah. We wouldn't have heroes if it wasn't... but I think most of them aren't such big threats. It's just the ones with the strongest quirks that people are really worried about.

[ but it's too late. Both Fiora and I, Sib, prepare for something gruesome and deeply personal --
but instead, this is pretty wholesome. Fiora blinks, startled, as the vision ends, then looks over at Ochako. ]

Your world must be really dangerous if people need to hide who they are... Huh. My brother's a hero, too, but everyone knows him.

[ villains running around sounds dangerous - especially bunches of them. She's having enough trouble with, like, three. ]
So... who were you talking to on the phone, there?

[ at the question, though, ochako's smile becomes a little thinner. ]
Oh... I'm not sure. Whoever it was, they're probably one of the things I've forgotten while we've been here.

[ an apologetic shake of the head. ]
It seems like we're all forgetting our old friends. I know I'm in the same boat.

[ she gives a soft laugh. ]
It's kind of sad, not even knowing who you're missing, isn't it?
