[ sometime after the fuss dies down, ochako goes looking for chiron. out of all of them, he’d taken the most injuries by far - some of them, protecting ochako. She can’t just ignore that. ]
Archer-san… Are you doing alright? Do you need any help with your bandages, or...?
[This week has been ungodly busy for him, frankly, and so Chiron has not been around as much as he could be. Blame the memory bubbles, too; while they don't particularly bother him, Chiron knows he has a few memories to his name that would... perhaps upset others.
But eventually even his good fortunes run out, and he comes across Ochako while exploring the new areas, his hair braided and tied up in a blue ribbon]
Ah, Ochako. I've been meaning to find you--
[Though before he can finish through with his sentence, a bubble bumps into him from behind, and Chiron stands rigid in preparation for whatever memory he might receive... and winces slightly when he hears a very familiar voice.
You are on your back, bleeding from a hole in your chest cavity, struggling to take in enough breaths to keep yourself conscious, and through the pain you hear the voice of a man – a student you once loved like a son, who stares down at you with quiet fondness, grief, and gratitude.
“You can stop calling me your teacher.” Your answer is slightly chiding, but softly amused. “I am no longer in a position where you can call me as such.” A weary pause. “But… I am still alive. As long as I am still alive, I am your enemy; deliver the final blow.”
He makes a wounded noise at that. He does not disagree, but makes no move to deliver the killing blow yet. Instead he asks: “But didn’t you agree to this duel to have your wish granted?”
“… Actually, that’s right." Bypassing his question completely, instead you ask: "Rider of Red, once you defeat me, what will you do?”
“Of course, I’ll defeat the Servants of Black and survive the battle.”
A hum from you… and then without any hesitation, you ask the impossible. “At that point, for the rest of my faction… can you lend them your noble phantasm?”
“—Please don’t ask.” The man’s voice is sharp, as if sensing a trap, though he winces all the same. Feeling cornered by the final wishes of his teacher, of an enemy bolding asking for his opponent to turn traitor. “There’s no way.”
“You should undertake the responsibility of granting your teacher’s dying wish.” A light moment of teasing despite the fact that you are fast fading. There is no more time left, is there?
… But then he answers with a sigh. “I’ll think about it.”
“Thank you very much… now then, I shall serve my final duty as a Servant as well.”
The sound from his voice is confusion as you slowly raise your lowered arm towards the sky, pointing at a cluster of stars that twinkle and brighten. “Sagittarius in the sky – if that is me, then I always have an arrow fitted in my bow.”
He says nothing, but you can hear in that silence a pronounced feeling of dread. A pleased smile stretches across your face.
“And so my Noble Phantasm has already been unleashed. There is no need to activate it’s true name, because—”
A scream of agony, understanding, hatred and remorse as a comet shot launches through the stars at your quiet whim, slamming directly into your opponent’s heel. It will not kill him, as you explain – only strip him of his immortality. There is now no way for him to win the war, and thus has no choice but to make good on the promise you've forced upon him.
You only smile as you feel your life slowly drain away, falling from a great height to your final demise.
Forgive him, his favored student, but though you will gracefully accept your death, your teacher does not like to lose]
[ her eyes linger on his hair in the moment before the bubble hits. by the time the memory ends, ochako struggles to catch her breath. somehow, none of the ones she's experienced so far have been that intense. it takes another few seconds for her to find the words to say. ]
...I won't ask if you don't want to talk about it, Archer-san.
[ it's his memory, after all, and his choice. having these memories forced upon them for anyone to see is bad enough on its own. she won't force him to talk baout something that must have been difficult for him. ]
He told me the truth; he would have gone on to win the prize, and considered the needs of humanity second.
... My opponent meant to not only strip all of humanity of their ability to die, but also strip them of the ability to generate conflict. I understand that to many, that would sound like a utopia -- there would be no war, no suffering, no pain -- but to force humanity into such a state would halt all of their process. They would be... lifeless dolls.
Precisely why I picked them. My assumption was that the two people I chose would inform me of the roses, and if they were magical, we could at least know about their existence.
Otherwise I was hoping to turn them into medicine and teas...
[Gonna sneak-attack yeet a thread at you but Chiron will be looking for Ochako on Sunday, likely after they've had their little meeting with the other rabbits.
... Their discussions certainly put a damper on things, to be fair, but even still, Chiron will greet her with a smile once he finds her]

[he's had quite a few people visit him by this point, but his voice is still gentlest when regarding her.]
I will need some help restocking my supplies, however, if you have the time.

[ her bandages have been replaced, but the wound is still fresh, and painful. the limp will stay with her for a while. ]

I do not mind, but it might be best for you to just ride on my back, then.

W-What? But you're injured, too!

My human half is injured. The rest of me escaped more or less unscathed.

[ and she'll probably need help getting up, so, ]

I did what was necessary to preserve the human race.
[it might have cost him his favorite student's love, but... sometimes that is simply the price one must pay]

week 5, monday
It can't be like what happened to Hua Cheng-san and Riegan-san, either, can it? I'm pretty sure that lasted until the end of the week.

[his arms are folded as they continue along, thinking quietly to himself for a moment]
Last week I was given... choices on my device, as well as the option to pick names on who would receive the gifts.
-- Or at least, I assumed they were to be gifts. The wording was purposefully obtuse, I suspect.
no subject
What kind of "gifts" were they?
no subject
Let me see... red roses, a thesaurus, and I think someone's used shoes?
no subject
The roses are the only thing on that list that actually sounds like a gift.

Otherwise I was hoping to turn them into medicine and teas...
